Sports Massage and Foam Rolling are two of those little extra things that can be incorporated into your training calendar. You just have to remember when the Sports therapist is 'flushing out' your IT bands (Iliotibial band muscle which runs the length of your thigh) or your rolling over them that the waves of pain are for the greater good…
The benefits of Sports Massage and Foam Rolling are noted to increase aspects such as quality and quantity of training, prevention of injury and improved muscle flexibility to name a few!!
The idea is that it helps breakdown the build up of scar tissue and by using trigger points the massage therapist or if using a foam roller can help identify area's which are tight to correct muscle imbalance and hopefully prevent further muscle damage.

I'm looking to have a Sports Massage every other week but foam rolling is incorporated into my regular gym session and will often be part of my warm up before lifting.
Foam rollers / tennis balls / golf balls can all be used to help loosen off muscles after a game and it doesn’t have to be time consuming process or expensive one!
